Iran left GPS and resorted to China’s BeiDou? Wreaked havoc by dodging Israel’s air defense!
New Delhi: The ongoing tension between Iran and Israel-America in the Middle East has sparked a new debate. The accuracy of Iran’s recent missile and drone attacks has increased significantly. Many intelligence experts believe that China’s BeiDou satellite navigation system could be behind this. However, there has been no official confirmation of this.
Increased accuracy in Iran’s attacks
On February 28, America and Israel launched major attacks on Iran, in which Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. In response, Iran launched massive missile and drone attacks on American military bases in Israel and Gulf countries thousands of kilometers away.
Many attacks hit the target accurately, dodging Israel’s air defense system, causing considerable damage and even loss of lives. Experts say that earlier Iran’s attacks were less accurate, but now there has been a big change in the accuracy.
American GPS shut down, resort to BeiDou?
America has jammed GPS signals for Iran. Iran previously depended on American GPS, but it no longer works. Former French intelligence chief Alain Juillet said in a podcast that Iran may have been given permission by China to use the BeiDou system.
This keeps the direction of missiles and drones correct and prevents jamming. Many reports say that Iran started shifting from GPS to BeiDou-3 in 2021 itself, especially after the 12-day war of June 2025.
What is BeiDou System?
BeiDou is China’s own global satellite navigation system. It was fully operationalized in 2020. China started making it after the 1996 Taiwan crisis, because it feared that America might shut down GPS. BeiDou is more accurate than GPS and jamming is difficult. It works worldwide and has become the option for countries like Iran.
China’s hand or just guesswork?
Iran and China have not commented on the use of BeiDou, but experts say Iran’s increased accuracy may be due to BeiDou. This has brought a new turn in the war.
America and Israel are now feeling more challenged by Iran’s attacks. If BeiDou is really being used, then it is a sign of China’s growing global power.
