Explosion as soon as the match was lit: Elderly woman had gone to smoke beedi in the bathroom, died on the spot; Family members gave this reason for the blast

An elderly woman died due to burn injuries in an accident that took place in Moldaband, Badarpur, south-east Delhi. Actually the elderly woman had gone to the bathroom on the rooftop to smoke beedi. As soon as the matchbox was lit, the bathroom caught fire after a sudden explosion. Junk items already kept in the bathroom. Within no time the entire bathroom caught fire. The elderly woman was completely burnt right there. The elderly woman has been identified as Binu Singh alias Pushpa Singh (65). When the family members ran to the terrace after hearing the explosion, there was a fire. Later the family members themselves somehow extinguished the fire. After this the police was informed.

Police reached the spot, took possession of the body of the elderly woman and sent it for post-mortem. Crime team and FSL have collected evidence from the spot. After initial investigation, the police are denying that the blast was caused by gas leakage. Police say that something was kept in the junk kept in the bathroom, due to which the fire broke out.

South-East District Police Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hemant Tiwari said that Binu Singh lived with her family in Moladband, Badarpur area. Her husband Kamal Singh has died. The family has three sons Narendra Singh, Yatendra and Ankit. Narendra works in a private company in Gurugram, while Yatendra works in South Extension.

Younger son Ankit is studying. Mamta Singh, daughter-in-law of Binu Singh, told that whenever her mother-in-law was stressed, she would secretly go to the bathroom on the terrace and smoke beedis. The family also knew about it, but still she did not drink in front. When she reached the bathroom on Saturday evening, a fire broke out after the explosion and she got burnt.

Mamta has claimed that she had taken PNG connection two months ago, there was leakage in it. This was also complained about many times. The family says that the accident happened due to PNG leakage. The police is clearly denying the matter of PNG leakage. FSL has collected evidence from the spot. The reasons for the accident are being ascertained.
