This new star player of KKR worth Rs 25.20 crores returned in form before IPL 2026, scored a brilliant century in Sheffield Shield

Just before the start of IPL 2026 to be played from March 22, a relief news has come for Kolkata Knight Riders. The team’s star all-rounder Cameron Green, bought for Rs 25.20, has given a strong indication of his form by scoring a brilliant century in Australia’s domestic tournament Sheffield Shield.

In the last round of Sheffield Shield, the match is being played between Western Australia and New South Wales. In this match, all eyes were on Cameron Green, because his new journey with Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL is about to begin.

Green started his innings a little slowly on the second day of the match on Sunday (15 March) and he had to face 21 balls to score the first run. But after this he gradually gained momentum and scored a brilliant century in 167 balls. Till the end of the second day’s play, he remained at the crease after scoring unbeaten 130 runs, which included 5 sixes. Thanks to his innings, Western Australia scored 302 runs and took a lead of 70 runs over New South Wales in the first innings.

Kolkata Knight Riders included Green in their team in the IPL 2026 mini auction by paying a huge price of Rs 25.20 crore. It also became the largest amount spent on a foreign player in IPL history, breaking the old record of his own team’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc.

Some questions were raised about Green’s form in recent months. He was not able to play even a single fifty-run innings in the Ashes series and his form in the T20 World Cup 2026 was also not special, where he could score only 24 runs in 3 innings. Whereas Australia was out of the group stage after losing to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. However, now this century in Sheffield Shield is being considered very important for his confidence.

Cameron Green has also played for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL. Although he could not play the IPL 2025 season due to injury, but now he is going to take the field for Kolkata Knight Riders as the third franchise in 2026.

It is noteworthy that Green performed brilliantly for Mumbai Indians in his first season in IPL, scoring more than 400 runs and also took more than 10 wickets. In such a situation, Kolkata team will expect big performance from him in the upcoming season.
