Assembly Elections 2026: Assembly elections are going to be held in four states and one union territory, know who defeated whom last time?

New Delhi. There is going to be a riot of assembly elections in four states and one union territory. By April, the election results of West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala assemblies will be out. Out of these five places, there are BJP governments in Assam and Puducherry. Whereas, in three states the non-BJP opposition has been in power for a long time.

Out of 294 assembly seats in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC had won 213 seats in the 2021 elections. At that time BJP had won 77 seats. BJP has claimed that this time its government will be formed in West Bengal. At the same time, Mamata Banerjee and TMC are again talking about forming their government. BJP has made SIR, illegal infiltration, unemployment and corruption a big issue in the state. Whereas, if we talk about Assam, there is a BJP led NDA government here for two consecutive terms. NDA had won 75 out of 126 seats of Assam Assembly in 2021. Whereas, the main opposition Congress alliance had won 50 seats. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has claimed that this time his party will form the government in Assam. Whereas, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is confident of forming the NDA government again.

Now let us turn to South India. Elections are also to be held for 126 seats of Kerala Assembly. The Left Front i.e. LDF has formed the government in Kerala twice in a row. In 2021, LDF had won 99 seats. Whereas, Congress and its allies won the remaining seats. In Kerala, it was considered a big thing for the same alliance to come to power twice in a row. Because the people of Kerala have been handing over power to a different alliance every time before this election. DMK led by MK Stalin is in power in Tamil Nadu. In the year 2021, DMK came to power by winning 133 seats. DMK’s ally Congress had won 18 seats. At the same time, the main opposition party AIADMK had got 66 seats. Its ally BJP had won 4 seats. This time BJP and AIADMK have claimed to oust DMK from power. Whereas, in Puducherry, NDA had won 16 out of 30 seats in 2021. Congress could win only 2 seats here last time.
