Suspicious death of Ujjain student Gurkeerat in Canada, family alleges murder
The sudden death of Gurkirat Singh Manocha, resident of Parshvanath Colony, Ujjain, in Fort St. John, Canada has plunged the entire family into mourning. He was attacked during a dispute on March 14, following which the family is demanding justice, accusing him of murder.
Gurkeerat, who went to Canada about two and a half years ago, was pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma course in Business Management at Northern Lights College. Father Gurjit Singh told that during the altercation the attackers attacked him fatally. Canadian police have started an investigation, but the post-mortem report is awaited.
The family says that the reason for the dispute is not yet clear, yet they are demanding that the culprits be tried for murder. The community is shocked to hear this news in Ujjain, where Gurkeerat was considered everyone’s favorite.
This incident highlights the insecurity of Indian students studying abroad. Madhya Pradesh officials are keeping an eye on the case and the Chief Minister has consoled the family. The truth is expected to come out as the investigation progresses, so that Gurkeerat can get justice.
