Rahul Dravid statement on Sanju Samson: The Board of Control for Cricket in India organized the Naman Awards ceremony in Delhi to honor the players who have performed brilliantly in international and domestic cricket in the year 2024-25. Many veteran players and officials associated with Indian cricket participated in this special program.
In this ceremony, it has been decided to honor Team India’s former head coach and great batsman Rahul Dravid with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Rahul Dravid reached Delhi on the morning of 15 March to participate in this felicitation ceremony. After reaching the program, while talking to the broadcaster, he expressed happiness over the great victory of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2026. Along with this, he also praised wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson who performed brilliantly in this tournament.
Dravid praised Sanju Samson’s hard work
Rahul Dravid specifically gave his reaction on Sanju Samson’s performance during the conversation. He said that it is a great pleasure to see Sanju achieving success after working hard for so long. Dravid said that hard work always pays off and Sanju is a great example of this. In fact, when Rahul Dravid was the head coach of Team India, in the year 2024, India won the T20 World Cup title under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Sanju Samson was also included in that team, but he did not get a chance to play a single match in the entire tournament. Despite this, Sanju continued working hard and kept improving himself.
Great performance started from Super-8
Before the T20 World Cup 2026, many questions were being raised about Sanju Samson’s form and it was believed that he would not get many chances in the playing eleven. However, he got a chance in the Super-8 match against Zimbabwe and after that he did not look back. Sanju made his intentions clear by scoring a brilliant half-century in that match. After this, he continuously played excellent innings and played an important role in the team’s victory. The special thing was that he made a big contribution in India winning the T20 World Cup for the third time by scoring half-centuries in three consecutive matches including the final.

Sanju Samson became player of the tournament
Sanju Samson batted brilliantly throughout the tournament and played many memorable innings. He played a brilliant inning of 89 runs against England in the semi-finals. After this, in the final match against New Zealand also, he saw an excellent inning of 89 runs with his bat. Sanju Samson was the most successful batsman of the Indian team throughout the tournament. He scored a total of 321 runs in T20 World Cup 2026. Due to his excellent performance, he was also honored with the Player of the Tournament award. This achievement of Sanju proved that with continuous hard work and patience, any player can achieve great success.
