Former India batter Aakash Chopra has predicted Gujarat Titans’ likely playing XI for IPL 2026, stating that the Shubman Gill-led side has several options for the No.4 spot as well as multiple Impact Player choices.
Gujarat Titans had retained 20 players before the IPL 2026 auction. During the auction, the franchise added Ashok Sharma, Jason Holder, Tom Banton, Prithviraj Yarra, and Luke Wood, completing their 25-player squad for the upcoming season.
Chopra explained that the top order could feature Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler. He suggested that Kumar Kushagra, Shahrukh Khan, or Washington Sundar might be the players competing for the No.4 spot.
“If I look at their probable XI, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler should form the top three. Kumar Kushagra is in excellent form, and Shahrukh Khan is also available as an option. They might even try Washington Sundar at No.4,” he said.
Chopra also mentioned that he would prefer Glenn Phillips over Jason Holder in the playing XI, as he could add more depth to the batting lineup.
“If Glenn Phillips bats at No.5, followed by Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada, then players like Shahrukh Khan, Anuj Rawat, Arshad Khan and Sai Kishore could be used as Impact Player options. Jason Holder might actually get the nod ahead of Phillips, but I would go with Phillips because the top three may not produce the same results as last season, especially considering Buttler’s current form,” he added.
The former opener also made predictions for the season, stating that Shubman Gill could finish as Gujarat Titans’ top run-scorer in IPL 2026. For the bowling department, he expects either Mohammed Siraj or Rashid Khan to emerge as the team’s leading wicket-taker.
“If we talk about the top run-scorer for Gujarat Titans, I would back Shubman Gill once again. When it comes to wickets, it’s unlikely that Prasidh Krishna will repeat the feat, so my pick would be either Mohammed Siraj or Rashid Khan,” Chopra remarked.
