Kerala Election 2026: RJD forms alliance with LDF
Tejashwi Yadav announced that RJD will contest the Kerala Assembly elections 2026 in alliance with the ruling LDF. He says that the objective of this alliance is to strengthen the political situation in the state and keep LDF in power.
Election 2026: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) working president Tejashwi Yadav has announced that the party will contest the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections in alliance with the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF). Yadav said the purpose of this alliance is to help the LDF retain power in the state.
Tejashwi Yadav gave this statement after meeting the MLAs of the RJD-led grand alliance in Bihar. This meeting took place at the same time when voting was about to take place for five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar. Yadav said that RJD has been present in the assembly in Kerala before and their aim this time is to strengthen the political situation in the state by joining hands with LDF.
Preparation for Rajya Sabha elections in Bihar
Voting was to be held for five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar on Monday, March 16. There are a total of 243 members in the Bihar Assembly, of which RJD has 25 MLAs. RJD is also counting on 10 MLAs from other allies of the Grand Alliance. Apart from this, support is likely to come from five MLAs from AIMIM and one from BSP.
The Grand Alliance MLAs were asked to spend the night in a hotel in Patna. AIMIM and BSP MLAs were also invited to stay for the night. Its objective was to ensure that all MLAs are present at the time of voting and there is no possibility of any kind of ‘cross-voting’.
RJD candidate and competition
A total of six candidates are contesting for five Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar. RJD has fielded its sitting MP Amarendra Dhari Singh. The remaining five candidates are from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The NDA list includes Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other JDU MLAs.
During election preparations, rumors spread that four of the six Congress MLAs were missing. This situation increased the fear of cross-voting. Former Congress state president Akhilesh Prasad Singh, while settling this, said that all the MLAs are safe and the grand alliance is completely ready. He also said that NDA should worry about itself as 20 of its MLAs are currently missing.
Expansion of RJD’s role
Tejashwi Yadav’s announcement related to Kerala indicates that RJD’s role is no longer limited to Bihar only. The party will now work out an election strategy with LDF for the assembly elections in Kerala. Yadav said that RJD’s aim is to strengthen the democratic processes in the state and keep LDF in power.
In Kerala, LDF is contesting against Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF). Yadav clarified that the RJD will contest the elections as part of the LDF and the party’s focus is to ensure electoral victory by becoming a strong ally in the state.
Grand alliance strategy in Bihar
The strategy of the Grand Alliance in the Rajya Sabha elections in Bihar was to keep the number of all the alliance MLAs united. The purpose of the plan to stay in the hotel for the night was to ensure that all the members were present at the time of voting and there was no political entanglement of any kind.
In this election, the entire focus of RJD and its allies was on maintaining the number of MLAs and avoiding any irregularities at the time of voting. Keeping in view the strategy of the opposition NDA, the Grand Alliance had made complete preparations to ensure the victory of its candidates.
