Rajya Sabha Election 2026: Voting begins on 37 seats in 10 states. The credibility of Nitish Kumar and Nitin Naveen is at stake, what will be the game of cross voting?

News India Live, Digital Desk: Today is a very important day for the country’s politics. The process of biennial elections for 37 Rajya Sabha seats in 10 states has started. Although 26 candidates have already been elected unopposed, the real contest is taking place today for the vacant seats in states like Bihar, Haryana and Odisha. A close contest is being seen between the NDA and the opposition ‘India’ alliance to increase their strength in the upper house of the Parliament. Nitish Kumar’s ‘master stroke’ and Nitin Naveen’s entry are the most talked about in this election, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar has surprised everyone by deciding to go to Rajya Sabha himself. Along with him, senior BJP leader and national level active Nitin Naveen is also in the electoral fray. In this election for 5 seats of Bihar, NDA candidates seem confident of their victory, but everyone’s eyes are also on the strategy of the opposition. There is panic among political parties due to the fear of cross voting in the elections under the shadow of horse trading and resort politics. The situation is more tense in states like Haryana and Odisha, where every vote is precious. According to sources, many parties have resorted to ‘resort politics’ to keep the MLAs united. The opposition has accused the ruling party of luring the MLAs, due to which the election atmosphere has become even more heated. The results will be declared by the evening. The voting process will start from 9 am to 4 pm. Immediately after this, the counting of votes will start from 5 pm and by late night the results of all the 11 seats (for which voting is taking place) will be declared. This election is being considered as a ‘power test’ for political parties before the upcoming assembly elections.
