Xiaomi SU7 Update: Impressive EV Changes Coming
The updated electric sedan from Xiaomi, the Xiaomi SU7, will be officially unveiled on March 19. The latest version of the SU7 will feature improvements in charging capacity, drive technology, safety functionality, and minor exterior design alterations.
The overall look of the upcoming SU7 is expected to be quite similar to the current version; however, the inside and under the hood will differ significantly. Anticipated features for the new SU7 include LiDAR across the range, improved battery charging speed, higher-torque, lower-RPM electric motors, and enhanced overall safety across all vehicles.
The original SU7 was Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle and generated a lot of buzz when it was released as an innovative new vehicle for consumers; therefore, this latest version of the Xiaomi SU7 is being released to help maintain the car as a dominant force in a very competitive EV marketplace.
Xiaomi Confirms Launch Date
Xiaomi announced on its Chinese social media that the refreshed Xiaomi SU7 will be unveiled on March 19.
The new SU7 model provided Xiaomi with an entry into the electric vehicle market and generated high consumer demand since its launch. They will have the first public showing of the updated Xiaomi SU7 on March 19th, along with giving details regarding the updates.
Design Mostly Remains the Same
The exterior of the new Xiaomi SU7 will remain essentially unchanged compared to the previous model.
- The primary change to the new SU7 is the grille on the front fascia bumper.
- A new color option (Capri Blue) is the second change to the external structure of an automobile.
In addition, no modifications have been made to the automobile’s body. As such, the body of the automobile maintains a sporty and/or sleek appearance. Even more, the size of the newly designed SU7 automobile has not changed. The dimensions of the Xiaomi SU7 automobile (length: 4,997 mm, width: 1,963 mm, height: 1,445 mm) will still be 3,000 mm for the wheelbase. This keeps the car in the large electric sedan category.
Interior Gets Small Changes
Inside the car, Xiaomi has made some small updates to improve comfort. The steering wheel has been slightly redesigned. The layout of the instrument panel has also been slightly adjusted. Seat stitching has been improved, and more soft materials are now used in the cabin. These changes are meant to make the interior feel nicer for everyday use.
Another small change is the ambient lighting system. The new Xiaomi SU7 features a three-layer lighting system that spans parts of the cabin, especially around the dashboard and doors. These updates are not huge, but they help the car feel more refined.

LiDAR Will Be Standard in All Versions
One of the biggest updates in the refreshed Xiaomi SU7 is the driver-assistance system. Earlier, LiDAR sensors were only available in higher versions of the car. With the new update, Xiaomi plans to include LiDAR in every model.
The car will also use a new computing chip that offers around 700 TOPS processing power. This chip helps power the smart driving system and improves how the car handles assisted driving functions. By making this hardware standard, Xiaomi wants its smart driving features to work across the whole lineup.
Faster Charging and More Power for Xiaomi SU7
The refreshed Xiaomi SU7 will also deliver improved performance and charging speed. All models will use Xiaomi’s V6S Plus electric motor. The Standard and Pro versions are expected to produce around 320 horsepower. The Max version could reach about 690 horsepower.
Charging technology has also been upgraded. The Standard and Pro models move from a 400-volt system to a 752-volt system. The Max version will use an even higher 897-volt platform. Because of this upgrade, the Max model can reportedly add up to around 670 km of range in just 15 minutes of charging under the CLTC test standard. The Pro version is also expected to offer a driving range of more than 900 km.
Safety and Suspension Updates
Xiaomi has also worked to improve the car’s safety. The refreshed Xiaomi SU7 uses stronger steel materials in some parts of the body. The door anti-collision beams now have a strength of about 2,200 MPa.
The number of airbags has also increased. Earlier models had seven airbags, while the new version will offer nine. Some versions of the car will also get dual-chamber air suspension with CDC dampers. This should help the car ride more smoothly and improve stability on the road.

Xiaomi Continues Expanding in the EV Market
The SU7 is a vital item for Xiaomi as it expands beyond cell phones and consumer goods. Originally introduced to consumers with the first SU7 model, Xiaomi made its commitment to EV production clear. The announcement of its EV debut has attracted immediate attention from Chinese consumers.
Xiaomi plans to enhance the new version of the Xiaomi SU7 when it launches on March 19, while also improving how people already identify with the vehicle’s design. Although you probably won’t find any major modifications to the car’s exterior design, numerous changes to the SU7’s interior are intended to strengthen Xiaomi’s position in a highly competitive electric sedan market.
