The modernized plant of Parag Dairy located in Govind Nagar is going to operate again after about 13 years. District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh inspected the plant on Monday and reviewed the preparations. He informed that preparations to restart the plant in the month of April are in the final stages with the cooperation of Mother Dairy and National Dairy Development Board. With the operation of the plant, about four lakh liters of milk will be processed every day and about one lakh milk producing farmers of Kanpur division will get direct benefits.
The District Magistrate said that Parag Dairy Plant, established in the year 1962, has been included not only in Kanpur but among the major and oldest dairy plants of the entire division. Its operation was stopped in the year 2013 due to various reasons. After this the state government decided to modernize it.
In this sequence, redevelopment and upgradation of the plant has been done through Indian Dairy Machinery Corporation Limited, Anand (Gujarat), a unit of National Dairy Development Board. The total cost of this project is Rs 160.64 crore and it is financed under the State Plan.
He said that in this dairy plant equipped with state-of-the-art technology, a system for milk processing and large-scale production and packing of various milk products has been developed. The plant has the capacity to produce approximately 1.50 lakh liters of packed milk, 20 metric tons of milk powder, one ton of cheese and eight tons of desi ghee per day.
Milk will be collected from various village level collection centers and processed here, so that the milk producing farmers of the area will get better market and timely payment for their produce.
