New initiative of Jharkhand government, now cases pending for years will be resolved quickly, all departments got new order

Jharkhand News: Jharkhand government has started a new initiative to expeditiously dispose of cases pending for years in various government departments of the state. Now emphasis is being laid on resolving these cases through mediation, so that the burden of cases on courts and government departments can be reduced.

What is the objective of the campaign?

This step has been taken under the ongoing “Mediation for the Nation 2.0” campaign across the country. The aim of this campaign is to amicably resolve such matters which may take a long time in court. Jharkhand government has issued necessary instructions to all the departments to intensify this campaign.

Instructions given to take necessary steps

State Law Department Principal Secretary Neeraj Kumar Srivastava has sent a letter in this regard to all Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Heads of Departments. It has been said in this letter that they should identify such cases in their respective departments, which can be resolved through mediation. Besides, instructions have also been given to take necessary steps for speedy disposal of these cases.

The decision was taken in the meeting

In fact, a high level meeting was organized under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary on 24 February. In this meeting it was decided that every department of the state will have to appoint a nodal officer. This officer will review the cases pending in his department and decide which cases can be resolved through mediation.

What will be the responsibility of the nodal officer?

It will be the responsibility of the nodal officer to identify such cases and prepare a list. After this this list will be sent directly to the Member Secretary of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (Jhalsa). Jhalsa will help resolve these matters through the process of mediation.

The number of pending cases should be reduced

The main objective of this initiative is to reduce the number of cases pending in the courts. Many times, even in small or amicable matters, lengthy legal processes continue, leading to wastage of both time and resources. Through the process of mediation, such matters can be resolved quickly and easily.

Police Headquarters also issued letter to all the districts

After the meeting, the state police headquarters has also issued a letter to all the districts in this regard. The police department has also been directed to appoint nodal officers at their level and identify such cases which can be resolved through mediation.

All departments will have to meet the demands of nodal officers soon

The government has also asked all the departments to send the names of their nodal officers to the Jhalsa office as soon as possible. Along with this, a list of those pending cases which have been considered suitable for mediation should also be made available. The Principal Secretary of the Law Department has clarified that this campaign is a priority of the government. Therefore, all the departments have been instructed to review the pending cases as soon as possible and prepare a list of suitable cases.

Judicial process will be simple

The government believes that if this process is implemented properly, not only will the pressure of cases on the courts reduce, but people will also get relief from waiting for justice for a long time. Through mediation, many matters can be resolved in less time and with mutual consent, due to which disputes are also resolved quickly. Overall, this initiative of the Jharkhand government is being considered an important step towards making the judicial process simpler and faster.
