​Amidst West Asia tension, the first Indian ship Shivalik arrived with LPG!

Amidst the tense situation in West Asia, the Indian ship Shivalik LPG Carrier has reached Mundra Port in Gujarat. It has reached India with gas from Qatar. The ship reached Mundra Port in Gujarat at 5 pm on Monday, information about which was already shared with the press by the Shipping Ministry.

​Shivalik has arrived with about 45 thousand metric tonnes of LPG, which is said to be equivalent to about 32 lakh domestic gas cylinders.

This ship crossed the Strait of Hormuz on March 14 and headed towards India. This is the first LPG ship to reach India amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

“The Shivalik LPG carrier, which had departed from the Persian Gulf, crossed the Strait of Hormuz and reached India,” Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said at a press briefing of Indian government ministries on Monday.

Along with this, Sinha assured that all Indian sailors are safe in the Persian Gulf region. “No incident has been reported in the last 24 hours and the situation is being continuously monitored. Contact is being maintained with each ship and its crew. There are still 22 Indian-flagged ships, carrying 611 Indian sailors, off the west side of the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf,” he said.

Sinha said that the ship leaving from UAE will reach India with crude by March 17. He said, “The Indian flag ship ‘Jag Ladki’ departed from UAE on March 14 and started its journey towards India carrying about 81 thousand tonnes of Murban crude oil. The ship and all the Indian sailors on board are safe. The ship will reach Mundra port tomorrow.”​
