The French automaker Renault has finally launched its much-anticipated 2026 Duster. Now, even before its launch, people started comparing the Duster with the newly launched Tata Sierra mid-size SUV, and now, with the prices of both SUVs available, the comparisons have become even more detailed. Pricing: Which is the better value?

The pricing range of the Renault Duster starts at Rs 10.49 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 18.49 lakh. Renault has made sure to undercut the pricing of its rivals to become extremely competitive. The base variants with the Turbo TCe 100 have been priced at Rs 10.49 lakh for Authentic; then there is the Evolution variant at Rs 11.69 lakh and the Techno variant at Rs 13.49 lakh.
Following which are the Turbo TCe 160 variants – Evolution at Rs 12.99 lakh, Techno at Rs 14.49 lakh, Techno+ at Rs 15.29 lakh, and Iconic at Rs 16.99 lakh. The top-of-the-line Turbo TCe 160 with the DCT gearbox has been priced at Rs 14.49 lakh for Techno, Rs 16.69 lakh for Techno+, and Rs 18.49 lakh for Iconic.

Moving on to the pricing of the Tata Sierra, the entry-level Smart+ variant has been priced at Rs 11.49 lakh. Meanwhile, the mid-range variants have been priced in the range of Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 17.99 lakh. The NA petrol variants range between Rs 12.99 lakh and go up to Rs 15.99 lakh.
After which, the Turbo Petrol variant of the mid-range variants (Pure, Pure+, and Adventure) are priced from Rs 14.49 lakh to Rs 16.79 lakh. And lastly, the diesel mid-range variants are priced at Rs 14.49 lakh to Rs 17.99 lakh. Finally, the top-of-the-line Adventure+ and Accomplished variants are priced in the range of Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh, and lastly, the Accomplished+ variant is priced at Rs 20.99 lakh to Rs 21.29 lakh.
When compared, the new Renault Duster’s entry-level variants are Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the Tata Sierra. Meanwhile, the mid-range variants compete head-on. As for the top-of-the-line variants, the Tata Sierra is Rs 3 lakh more expensive than the Duster.
Design comparison

The Renault Duster, when it comes to design, remains true to its original rugged, old-school SUV DNA with a boxy and upright stance. It boasts a bold front-end design, chunky grille, angular headlights, squared-off wheel arches, thick body cladding, simple Y-shaped LED taillights, and an overall functional yet rugged design.

Meanwhile, the Tata Sierra, on the other hand, is very flamboyant and has taken its design inspiration from the popular luxury SUV Land Rover Defender. It comes equipped with a full-width LED light bar, split LED headlight setup, signature wraparound rear glass, flush-type door handles, large 19-inch alloy wheels, connecting LED DRLs, and an overall very futuristic design language.
In terms of design, it is very subjective, and both SUVs will have different types of buyers. The Duster will be more suited for those who want a much more functional and hard-core-looking SUV. Now, coming to the interior design and features, the new Duster gets a rugged, durable, and easy-to-use layout which is spacious and practical. As for the features, the Duster comes loaded with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, an electric tailgate, an electronic parking brake, ventilated front seats, powered front seats, 17 ADAS features, 48-color ambient lighting, and a lot more.

On the other hand, the Sierra comes offered with a very futuristic and minimalistic cabin which is loaded to the brim with features. It gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital display, and a third 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger’s entertainment. Engine options

And lastly, a 1.8-litre strong hybrid engine which will make 160 bhp and will be launched later, around the festive season.

As for the Tata Sierra, it also gets three engine options. The first is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 104 bhp and 145 Nm of torque. Then there is the 1.5-litre turbo petrol making 160 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. And lastly, the 1.5-litre diesel engine making 118 bhp and 260 Nm (manual) and 280 Nm (automatic) of torque.
The Sierra, at the moment, has a wider range of engine and transmission options, including a diesel option. Meanwhile, the Duster, on the other hand, is the more powerful of the two and will also get a strong hybrid powertrain later, which will make it more unique.
