PNB will close the bank accounts of which customers?

Punjab National Bank issued a warning to its customers saying that their bank accounts may be closed. However, this warning is not for all customers but only for some specific customers. Punjab National Bank has issued an important information for customers on its official social media account. According to this, PNB customers will have to get KYC done by visiting their branch before April 15, 2026. If KYC is not completed by April 15, 2026, your bank account will be closed from April 16, 2026.

PNB will close the bank accounts of which customers?
Punjab National Bank (PNB) has said that those customers who have not had any transaction in their accounts for the last 3 years and their account balance is also zero (0), then they will have to get KYC done by visiting their branch before April 15, 2026. If KYC is not done by April 15, 2026, then the bank accounts of such customers will be closed without any notice from April 16, 2026. PNB said that for more information in this matter, customers will have to visit their nearest bank branch. Let us tell you that bank accounts in which there is no transaction for more than 2 years are considered as inactive accounts and PNB is going to close such accounts.

What is an inactive account?
According to the RBI website, an inoperative account is a savings account or current account in which there has been no ‘customer-induced transaction’ for more than two years. If you also have a bank account in Punjab National Bank, in which no transaction has taken place for the last 3 years, then you will have to go to your branch and get KYC done by filling all the necessary documents and forms. If you do not complete the KYC process and reactivate your account by April 15, your bank account will be closed from April 16, 2026.
