Varanasi: The video of an Iftar party in a boat on the waves of river Ganga during Ramzan in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, went viral on social media. In the video, some youths are seen sitting on a boat, where they broke their fast and enjoyed chicken biryani. It is alleged that the remaining pieces of food and bones were thrown directly into the Ganga. Seeing this, the sentiments of many people were hurt, because Ganga is considered very sacred in Hindu religion.

Case registered on complaint of BJP Yuva Morcha President

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s Varanasi Metropolitan President Rajat Jaiswal strongly complained about this incident. He gave a complaint to the police and said that Mother Ganga is a symbol of the faith of Sanatan Dharma. Lakhs of devotees come here every day for bath and worship. Eating non-veg on a boat and throwing its remains in the river is an act that hurts religious sentiments.

Rajat Jaiswal said that this act seems to have been done deliberately, which has spread anger in the Hindu society. He demanded from the police that strict action should be taken against the culprits, the license of the boat driver should be canceled and such incidents should not happen in future.

What happened on the boat?

According to the information, a young man organized Iftar on Monday evening. The fasting people were called to the Ganga Ghat and everyone was made to sit on a pre-booked boat. First Namaz was offered on the boat, then broke the fast by eating dates and fruits.

After this, chicken biryani was served. The complainant claims that non-veg food pieces and garbage were thrown into the holy Ganga, which is against the sanctity of the river.

Police arrested 14 people

The police took immediate action after receiving the complaint. The investigation started after the case was registered in the Kotwali police station. So far 14 people have been arrested in this case. All these youths were involved in the party. Police is also busy searching for the boat driver and other people. The investigation into the matter is ongoing and it remains to be seen what further action will be taken.
