What is a bug bounty program?

UIDAI shared a post on its official X account informing about the new program. The post states that a bug bounty program has been launched to further strengthen Aadhaar card security. A panel of experienced cyber research experts and ethical hackers has been formed to participate in this programme. These cyber security experts will try to identify potential flaws in UIDAI’s flagship digital platform.

Experts on the Bug Bounty Program’s panel will be awarded based on the severity of the problem if they find a bug in any real security and report the bug. UIDAI has said that this is the result of continuous efforts to make the Aadhaar system and platform more secure and robust.

A new app was recently launched

UIDAI had recently launched a new Aadhaar app before launching the bug bounty program. Many facilities were offered to the users. Users could use the app to update their address and mobile number from home. They don’t even need to go to Aadhaar card center for this. The new Aadhaar app also offers biometric lock and detail hiding options to secure users’ Aadhaar cards. Cardholders can also do paperless document verification through QR code without sharing their Aadhaar number.
