Yogi government’s big gift to teachers of aided schools, gratuity limit increased to Rs 25 lakh
The government has taken an important decision for the teachers and employees working in non-government aided secondary schools. Now the maximum limit of gratuity received at the time of retirement has been increased from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. In this regard, the Secondary Education Department has issued a government order and implemented the new system.
What is the new change?
Under the new system, the maximum limit of gratuity has been increased by Rs 5 lakh. However, this increased limit will be applicable only when Dearness Allowance (DA) becomes 50 percent or more of the basic salary. That means this decision is also related to future economic conditions.
This change will directly benefit those teachers and employees who retire after serving for a long time. Gratuity is an important means of financial security for them.
Amendments made in the rules of 2017
Earlier, under the government order issued in the year 2017, the recommendations of Pay Committee Uttar Pradesh-2016 were implemented. At that time the rules related to pension, gratuity and family pension were changed. It was then decided that the maximum limit of gratuity for teachers and employees opting for service till the age of 60 years would be Rs 20 lakh. Now the government has increased the same limit to Rs 25 lakh, which is considered an important step in view of inflation and increasing needs.
How will teachers get the benefit?
The increase in gratuity will provide more financial security to teachers and employees at the time of retirement. This amount is usually received at that stage of life when the source of regular income ends.
With the increased gratuity, they will be able to better meet their needs like health expenses, family responsibilities and other needs. This relief is especially important for those employees who spend their entire service period in aided institutions.
How many people will benefit?
About 61 thousand teachers and employees are working in aided secondary schools in the state. Only these people will get the direct benefit of this decision.
This step of the government also shows its positive attitude towards the employees working in the education sector. This will not only boost the morale of the current employees, but may also increase their attraction towards working in this field in the future. Overall, this decision to increase the gratuity limit is going to strengthen the financial security for teachers and employees.
