LPG cylinder shortage in Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna’s reaction
Outcry over shortage of LPG cylinders in Mumbai
Mumbai: The shortage of LPG cylinders has troubled the people of Mumbai. There is difficulty in cooking in homes and restaurants. LPG supply in India has been affected due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. India imports about 60 per cent of its LPG requirements, mainly from the Strait of Hormuz, which is currently closed. Iran’s reaction after the US and Israeli attacks has further aggravated this problem.
Twinkle Khanna took a smart solution
There is a delay in the availability of domestic gas cylinders in Mumbai, due to which people are standing in long queues. Restaurants and hotels are also affected by this crisis. In many places people are resorting to coal or induction, due to which the demand for induction stoves has suddenly increased. Prices are also skyrocketing and the stock is getting exhausted rapidly.
Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has expressed his opinion on this issue. While talking to the media at an event, he said that there has been no major problem in his house yet. He jokingly said, ‘There is no problem so far. My wife has ordered two inductions just yesterday. I don’t know whether he has reached home or not.
Akshay’s wife, Twinkle Khanna has prepared for this situation in advance. They have ordered two induction stoves as backup, which shows that even common people are looking for alternative solutions. Akshay said that it is a good thing that people are planning in advance. This problem is not limited to Mumbai only, but the situation is similar in Delhi, Pune and other cities also. Hotels and caterers are also facing difficulties. At some places, gas is being sold at expensive prices in the black market.
The government says that priority is being given to domestic consumers and ships are being sent to increase the supply. However, it may take time for the situation to become normal. People are being advised to use gas carefully and use induction or other electric appliances when necessary.
