Another AC local train to run in Mumbai; The journey will be hard

Mumbai AC Local : Like every year this year too as summer approaches, local travel in Mumbai is becoming more and more difficult. Rising temperatures, heavy crowds and the hassle of traveling in non-AC locales have left millions of commuters reeling every day. Against this backdrop, a happy news is coming out for Mumbaikars. Air-conditioned (AC) local services will soon be extended by Central Railway. Another AC local will enter the fleet of Central Railway in the month of April. This AC train is going to make travel for Mumbaikars a breeze.

At present, Central Railway has a total of 7 AC rakes, with the help of which 94 trains are operated daily. However, when the new rake comes in, this number will go straight past 100. That means, thousands of passengers will have a more comfortable travel option every day. Mumbai AC Local

In particular, there are plans to introduce 12 to 14 new AC trains on the extremely busy route from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Kalyan. The route is already congested and the situation worsens during peak hours. Therefore, these additional flights will be a big relief for the passengers. Demand for AC services is increasing not only on the main route, but also on the harbor route. AC Locals running between CSMT to Panvel are also getting great response from passengers. With the onset of summer, there has been a big rise in temperature since March. Due to heat, traveling in Non-AC trains is becoming very troublesome. Hence, many travelers are opting for AC local despite the higher fares. AC locales are steadily increasing in popularity due to comfort, coolness and relatively less crowding.

However, amidst all these positive changes, some serious questions still remain. According to regular passengers, simply increasing AC trips is not enough. It is equally important that local trains run on time. Many times the trains on CSMT–Kalyan and CSMT–Panvel routes run late, which disrupts the planning of passengers. Besides, it is also complained that there is no timely announcement if an AC service is cancelled. Many passengers buy AC tickets in advance, and face financial loss if the service is suddenly cancelled.
