14 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be seen playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2026. Vaibhav made his IPL debut last season, in which he scored 252 runs in 7 matches. Vaibhav scored these runs at a strike rate of 206.55. During this period, one century and one half-century came from his bat. Vaibhav scored a century in just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans, which was the second fastest century in IPL history. He also became the youngest player to score a century in IPL.
Once again all eyes will be on Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the new IPL season which is going to start from 28th of this month. Recently, he made India the champion by playing a brilliant inning of 175 runs in the final of the Under-19 World Cup. Now he wants to break a big record of Chris Gayle. Vaibhav has talked about breaking Gayle’s record, which no one has been able to even come close to till date.

Which record of Gayle does Vaibhav want to break?
At the BCCI Naman Awards 2026 ceremony held on Sunday (March 15) in New Delhi, commentator Harsha Bhogle asked Vaibhav which record he aspires to break in the upcoming IPL season. Harsha gave three options to Vaibhav: 6 sixes in the over, Chris Gayle’s record of 175 runs and the fastest century. Vaibhav said that he wants to break the record of his innings of 175 runs.
Chris Gayle, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2013, played an unbeaten inning of 175 runs in 66 balls against Pune Warriors, which included 13 fours and 17 sixes. This is the highest individual score in IPL history. No one has been able to come close to this in 13 years.

The target is to win the IPL trophy
Vaibhav said in this award ceremony that he wants to make Rajasthan Royals the IPL champion this season. He told Star Sports, ‘My target in this IPL season is to win the trophy for the team because it is very important. I want to perform well so that the entire team benefits from my innings. My aim is to contribute to the victory of Rajasthan Royals and win the trophy for the franchise.
