Tehran Season 4: Release details, Cast updates and plot details – Everything we know so far

Tehran, one of the most highly anticipated global OTT espionage thrillers, is an incredibly well-produced depiction of high-stakes Mossad intelligence operations conducted within Iran by way of heroic agent Tamar Rabinyan. Enthusiasts of the acclaimed Apple TV+ series, following the conclusion of season 3 in January 2023, are on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting to watch season 4 (the new season), with more intrigue, nuclear threats, surface betrayals, and extreme global geopolitical chaos through the lens of idiotic turmoil. As previously stated, the level of up and down of season 3 finished in January, so as season 3 was being released, many people expected seasons 4-10 would follow similarly. Currently, the International Emmy-nominated series (Niv Sultan, Shaun Toub, Liraz Charhi, and Hugh Laurie) continues filming in Greece following many obstacles throughout the production process, including (1) the/this day when Dana Eden passed.

Tehran Season 4: Release Details

According to Apple TV+, Tehran (the Israeli spy thriller series) will return for a fourth season, confirmed in December 2025, along with information about Season 3’s premiere.

Production of Season 4 has begun now. Filming is expected to take place primarily in Athens, Greece, starting around October 2025 and continuing until roughly April 2026 (based on casting notices and other sources).

No premiere date has been confirmed yet. Assuming there are no scheduling changes, it appears likely that the fourth season will debut in 2027. Some unofficial reports on social media (e.g., February 2026 Facebook posts) seem inaccurate; despite reports to the contrary, Season 3 did not premiere until January 2026.

Production has experienced setbacks due to the need to modify the completed script due to geopolitical issues and the tragic passing of co-creator/producer Dana Eden, both of which will potentially delay production of Season 4. However, there will be an announcement shortly regarding potential changes to the season.

Tehran Season 4: Cast Updates

The principal actors returning from the previous seasons:

Niv Sultan will play the role of Tamar Rabinyan (the lead Mossad hacker-agent).

Hugh Laurie (who appeared in Season 3 as a South African character) is likely to return for Season 4, although he has not been confirmed as of yet.

Shaun Toub, Shervin Alenabi, Menashe Noy, Liraz Charhi, etc., from previous seasons. There are several supporting roles to be cast in Greece in 2025 that were not widely reported but were part of the film production process.

Tehran Season 4: Plot Details

While there are still no confirmed episode summaries from Apple TV+, it is important to note that all current plot details about season 4 of “The Spy” have been kept confidential during the production phase due to sensitivity surrounding current events.

Typical plot structure reflects the journey of Tamara Rabinyan (played by actress Nisha Dutt), who is a member of Israel’s Mossad and is tasked with an undercover presence in Tehran, dealing with numerous issues, including espionage, nuclear threats, and internal turmoil.

In season 3, the viewers will be following Tamara’s journey as she goes rogue and loses her Mossad support while being pursued by both her former service and by terrorists, and how she fought against both to survive in the hostile environment of Iran.

We anticipate that season 4 will continue where season 3 left off, perhaps escalating tensions throughout the world related to Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Mossad operations, and geopolitical chaos (based on the many fan theories and previews that reference a global and national destabilization, and/or superpower dynamics).

As the first three seasons have already reflected past/current events in the world, so too will season 4’s storyline likely reflect or adapt accordingly to the ongoing situation in the international community.

You can watch all seasons of “The Spy” on Apple TV+ (all three seasons were released previously). It has also won International Emmy awards and is co-produced with Israel’s KAN 11. Expect updates to come shortly as soon as the production wraps up, and be on the lookout for any announcements made by Apple TV+!
