South Korean actor Lee Jang-woo was accused of not paying 40 million won (US$28,000) for ingredients supplied to his restaurant.

According to local news outlet Dispatcha livestock supplier in Cheonan City alleged Hoseokchon, a restaurant promoted by Lee on various broadcasts, had missed their payments for over eight months.

The supplier named A said he began delivering to the restaurant after meeting Lee in person in Nov. 2023, Chosun Biz reported.

He said the total unpaid amount rose to 64 million won as of Jan. 2026 but part of the debt was settled later.

He said he repeatedly asked for payment through messages, explaining that the growing unpaid amount was placing significant strain on his business.

According to Dispatch, a person related to the restaurant said Lee was not directly involved in its day-to-day management and that his friend was the CEO.

Following the report, Lee Jang-woo’s agency HUNUS Entertainment released an official statement along with records of Hosukchon’s payment to its partner, Mujin Co., Ltd., which it said was responsible for paying A.

“We do feel a moral responsibility for not having sufficiently monitored whether the intermediary company would fulfill its obligations,” the statement said.

“Regarding the point that the supplier attempted to reach out via social media: dozens of messages or more are received on actor Lee Jang Woo’s account every day, and messages from accounts he does not follow are categorized separately under message requests, making them difficult to check immediately,” it continued.
