Indian explosive batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal will now play for Goa team instead of Mumbai Gujarati
One of the talented young players of Indian cricket, Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to make a big change in his career. Jaiswal, who has performed brilliantly in domestic cricket and has been recognized as a rising star at the international level, will now be seen leaving Mumbai and playing for the Goa team. This young batsman, who has performed well for Mumbai from Under-19 cricket to Ranji Trophy, has written an email to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) asking for No Objection Certificate (NOC) to make changes in his cricket state team. It is being said that he has taken this decision due to personal reasons. Before Jaiswal, Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad have also left Mumbai and joined the Goa team.
According to the report, an MCA source said, “He has sought NOC and has given personal reasons for going to Goa.” For this, Jaiswale has asked for a no objection certificate. Yashasvi Jaiswal recently played for Mumbai in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, but his performance during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia was average. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it mandatory to play red-ball matches in domestic cricket, so that all the main players of Team India play for their respective states. However, from the next season onwards, Jaiswal will be seen playing in the Govani jersey.
Jaiswal, who started his cricket career from Mumbai, first came into limelight by scoring a double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Due to his good performance in domestic cricket, he got a place in the Indian team two years ago and since then he has impressed everyone with his game. He also batted brilliantly in the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scoring 391 runs in five Tests at an average of 43.44, which included one century and two half-centuries. His aggressive style and technical skills have made him one of the main opening batsmen of the Indian team.
After this series, Yashasvi Jaiswal played for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy last season when the BCCI had informed the players that if they did not play international matches, they would have to participate in domestic cricket. He represented Mumbai in the Ranji match against Jammu and Kashmir, where he could score only 4 and 26 runs. Earlier this year, he was not selected in the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy but was included in the list of non-expatriate options. However, despite returning to the Mumbai team for the Ranji semi-final against Vidarbha on 17 February, he pulled out of the match at the last minute citing pain in his ankle.
