Punjab News: Every village will get a sports ground, 3,100 sports grounds will be built in Punjab: Harjot Bains
Punjab News: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains inaugurated the 69th National School Games at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana. Nearly 1,000 players and more than 350 coaches from across the country are participating in the Games, to be held from January 6 to 11, 2026, making Ludhiana a major hub of national sports activities.
Sports culture is getting a new boost in Punjab
Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is continuously working to strengthen the sports culture in the state. 3,100 new playgrounds are being constructed in villages and cities, so that youth of every area can get better opportunities for sports.

Better facilities and security for players
The government has made complete arrangements for the accommodation, food, travel and security of the players. CCTV cameras have been installed at sports venues and police teams have been deployed for security. Along with this, special attention is also being given to the appointment of coaches in the sports nursery and the diet of the players.
Medals increased due to new sports policy
The Education Minister said that under the new sports policy of Punjab, players are given financial assistance as soon as they are selected for international competitions. After the implementation of this policy, there has been a continuous increase in the number of medals won by Punjab players.

Punjab is becoming a national sports hub
Hosting the 69th National School Games is further strengthening Punjab’s identity as a strong sports state. This event will not only inspire the youth but will also play an important role in establishing Punjab as a major sports hub of the country in the times to come.
