Dhurandhar 2 Review: Akshay Khanna’s absence was huge, but Ranveer Singh saved the film… the climax created a stir

Mumbai: If the discussions in the film circles are to be believed, Dhurandhar: The Revenge was never going to be made as a separate film. Initially the plan was to present it as one big story. But before the release of the first film, the makers saw so much strength in its story that it was decided to divide it into two parts. Now, after the first film of about three hours, this is the second episode of about four hours in front of the audience.

Without wasting any time, the film dives straight into the story of Hamza Ali Mazari i.e. Jaskirat Singh Rangi. Going through a deep personal pain, this character slowly moves towards his mission. The story takes a new turn when he gets a chance to become a spy for the country. Taking forward the events after the end of the first part, the film shows how a vacuum of power is created after the death of Rehman Dacoit. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Hamza sets out to strengthen his hold in the underworld.

A journey full of struggle and risk

Hamza’s mission is not easy. At every step he has to risk his identity, relationships and even his life. The film shows how high the price of rising in the underworld can be. Although the story is divided into six parts, this time the depth of the events feels a little less. Especially the audience will definitely miss the absence of Akshay Khanna’s character.

first half vs second half

The first part of the film is full of action, but some weaknesses are also visible in it. At many places the story seems a bit artificial and some scenes throw you out instead of connecting you with the story. But as soon as the interval happens, the film changes completely. The second part seems stronger, interesting and balanced. The story moving towards the climax keeps the audience engaged and leaves a great impact in the end.

Strong performance by Ranveer Singh

The biggest strength of this film is its acting. Ranveer Singh has played characters with two different personalities with great ease. Their pain, struggle and passion are clearly felt. Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and R Madhavan also look good in their respective roles, but some characters do not get enough screen time. Nevertheless, even in small roles the actors are successful in leaving their mark.

Not incomplete, but not completely perfect either

Dhurandhar: The Revenge is an ambitious film, which does not quite reach the heights of its first part. There are some shortcomings in the story and writing, but the second part handles these weaknesses to a great extent. Ranveer Singh’s brilliant acting and the powerful climax make the film a strong experience. This film may not be as memorable as the first, but it justifies the decision to take the story forward and divide it into two parts.
