Right way to observe Navratri fast

During Navratri, many people put their body under excessive stress. But in reality, this fast is meant to purify and lighten the body, not to cause pain to it. There is no benefit in staying hungry all day and eating heavy food in the evening. Therefore, we have brought some simple, tasty and nutritious recipes for you, so that you can observe this Navratri fast and also take care of your health.

Sabudana Curd Bowl

Sabudana Dahi Bowl is a great option for fasting days. It is light, refreshing and rich in energy, protein and fiber. Do try this recipe for Navratri.

Material:

1 cup sago (washed 3-4 times, soaked overnight in 1 cup water), 1 tablespoon sabja seeds (soaked in 1 cup water), 2 cups fresh curd, rock salt to taste, ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger, 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves, ¼ cup pomegranate seeds, ¼ cup roasted peanuts (coarsely ground); For tempering: 1 tbsp desi ghee, ½ tsp cumin, 1 green chilli (chopped), few curry leaves, 8-10 cashew nuts.

Method of preparation:

Wash the sago 3-4 times and soak it overnight in 1 cup of water and soak the sabja seeds for 10-15 minutes. Spread the soaked sago on a plate and cook in steam for about 4 minutes, then add some water, separate the grains and filter them. Take curd in a bowl, add rock salt, black pepper, ginger and coriander leaves and beat it well. Now add sabja seeds, pomegranate seeds, roasted peanuts and prepared sago and mix well. Finally, heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, green chillies, curry leaves and cashew nuts and fry them lightly and pour this hot tadka over the prepared bowl and serve immediately.


Sago Fruit Custard

If you feel like eating something sweet and healthy during Navratri, then Sabudana Fruit Custard is a great option. This is a creamy, delicious and refreshing dessert, which also provides you energy during the fast.

Material:

1 cup roasted makhana, ½ cup almonds, 10 cashews, a pinch of saffron, a pinch of cardamom powder, 12-15 dates, 1 cup lukewarm milk (for soaking), 2 cups milk, 1 cup boiled sago; Fruits (as per your choice): ¼ cup pomegranate, 1 banana (chopped), ¼ cup black grapes, ¼ cup green grapes, ½ cup mango (chopped).

Method of preparation:

Soak makhana, almonds, cashews and dates in lukewarm milk for 15-20 minutes, then grind them with saffron and cardamom powder to make a smooth paste. Heat 2 cups of milk in a pan, add this paste and cook on low flame while stirring continuously, until the mixture becomes slightly thick and creamy. After this, add boiled sago to it, mix well and cook for a few more minutes. Turn off the gas and let the mixture cool down a bit, then add chopped fruits to it and mix lightly. Serve chilled and enjoy this healthy sweetness during the fast.
