Ab De Villiers backs RCB to repeat 2025 heroics again.

Ab De Villiers thinks that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) can win the Indian Premier League (IPL) and retain the title for the second consecutive season this year. RCB won the IPL last year for the first time in series of 18 years and in the opinion of De Villiers, the team is not dependent on Virat Kohli alone anymore. He noted that the squad is filled with fighters which will mean less pressure to be put on their talisman and that will eventually work well for the franchise.

Virat can feel that, he can sense that he is not the only one carrying the load anymore. He has a squad of fighters around him, all aiming to win the trophy. They are in a very good place, I feel. They also haven’t made many changes, they have good reason to believe they can go all the way again this coming season,” De Villiers said while speaking to JioStar.

De Villiers also stated that RCB has the ability to become a constant IPL winner challenger and recalled statements of Kohli during the entire period they couldn’t win the IPL trophy. You will remember him (Kohli) speaking about it often in the dressing room, ‘If we can win one, we are going to win two, three, four quickly. That’s something you really need to look out for. “I feel RCB are in that zone now where they can go bang, bang, bang,” he added.

Kohli has the best work ethic I have ever seen in my life, says De Villiers

Virat Kohli will be coming back to IPL after he was last seen in January during the ODI series against New Zealand. Having quit Tests and T20Is, Kohli’s appearances have become scarce and fans wait with bated breath to see him play on March 28, the first game of the season.

However, De Villiers reckons India’s batting will not show any rust despite the break given to Kohli. His work ethic is the best that I have witnessed in my lifetime. There will be no rust in his batting due to a break in between. If he doesn’t bat well it will be purely due to form or maybe a technical error,” added de Villiers.
