Women Commission took cognizance of ‘Sarke Chunar’ song, sent summons
New Delhi. Taking cognizance of the song ‘Sarke Chunar’, the National Commission for Women has sent summons to five people including Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt. The National Commission for Women took cognizance of the media reports in exercise of its powers under the Commission’s Act, 1990. ‘
Allegations of obscenity and indecency have been made in the song ‘Sarke Chunar Sarke’. The Commission issued a release on Thursday saying that prima facie the said material appears to be sexually suggestive, objectionable and violates the provisions of the Indian Justice Code, IT Act and POCSO Act. The Commission has taken this matter seriously.
The Commission has issued summons to actress Nora Fatehi, lyricist Raqib Alam, actor Sanjay Dutt, producer Venkat K Narayan and director Kiran Kumar. He has been directed to appear before the Commission on March 24 at 12:30 pm and submit the relevant documents. In case of non-appearance on the scheduled date, appropriate action can be taken as per law.
