Gulf Crisis: Gulf threatened by Iran’s attacks, 7 countries including Saudi-UAE appealed to UN, demanding immediate discussion and action

News India Live, Digital Desk: On March 19, 2026, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Jordan sent a diplomatic note to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) demanding ‘urgent debate’ against Iran. These countries say that Iran’s “unprovoked” attacks pose a serious threat to international peace and security.1. Main demands of Gulf countriesThe following demands have been put forward in the draft resolution proposed by the Gulf countries: Stop the attacks: Iran should immediately stop attacks on civilian infrastructure (Airports, Power Plants) and commercial ships. Strait of Hormuz: Iran’s efforts to disrupt this strategic sea route should be strongly condemned. Compensation: Iran should pay compensation for the civilian, infrastructure and environmental damage caused by the attacks. ‘Reparations’ have been sought.2. UN Security Council Action (UNSC Resolution 2817)Earlier, on March 11, 2026, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) passed an important resolution: Resolution 2817: 13 out of 15 countries voted in favor of the resolution condemning Iran’s “terrible attacks”. Stance of Russia and China: These two countries abstained from voting, due to which the resolution passed without any veto. Response: Iran has rejected the proposal as “politically motivated” and “inappropriate.” He claims that he is acting only in self-defense (Article 51).3. Gulf countries have suffered huge losses after the direct conflict between America, Israel and Iran started on 28 February 2026: Energy crisis: There has been a huge jump in the prices of crude oil and LNG due to the attacks on Saudi refineries and Salalah port of Oman. Aviation service stalled: More than 4,000 daily due to attacks on Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports. Flights are being cancelled.Human loss: According to human rights organizations (HRW), many migrant workers have died so far and hundreds have been injured in these attacks.4. Saudi Arabia’s stern warning: In an emergency meeting held in Riyadh on March 19, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said that “what little trust was left in Iran has now been completely broken.” He clarified that if the attacks do not stop, the Gulf countries reserve the option of military retaliation.
