Apart from Pakistani Abrar, who else did Kavya Maran buy in The Hundred auction?
The player auction of England’s franchise cricket league ‘The Hundred’ took place on Thursday (March 12). In this auction, Kavya Maran’s team Sunrisers Leeds bid 1.90 lakh pounds (about Rs 2.34 crore) for Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed. Abrar became the first Pakistani player to be bought by an Indian-owned team in The Hundred auction. Apart from him, bid was also placed on Usman Tariq but he was bought by Birmingham Phoenix. The ownership of this team is with Warwickshire County and American Investor Group.
After buying Abrar, Kavya Maran and her Sunrisers franchise have come under attack from critics. Kavya is being severely criticized. Fans are angry that why did the Indian owned team buy the team which has always spewed venom against India? After the uproar, the team’s head coach Daniel Vettori said that Adil Rashid was our priority. When we could not buy them, we turned to foreign spinners. 4-5 players were spotted and Abrar was one of them.
