Seeing a drone in a place where even a bird thinks twice before killing it is nothing short of surprising. According to a report on Thursday, this is the same army base named Fort McNair, where Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and Defense Minister Pete Hegseth live.

It has been reported in the last 10 days that many drones were seen flying over this base during a single night, although it is not yet known where these drones came from. Many questions related to security arise due to the drone reaching such a safe place. Did the person sending the drone know that the security in this area is less compared to other places and now that this incident has come to light, what action is the American government going to take?

How did drones reach this area?

Fort McNair also houses the National Defense University and many senior Pentagon officials. This area is close to Capitol Hill and the White House, but it does not have a strong security cordon like other military bases. The question arises that when senior officers live at this place, then why was the security not tightened and did any insider inform that this area is weak in terms of security?

Seeing the increasing danger, there was panic among the officers. A hasty meeting was also held at the White House, in which the situation was reviewed and shifting of Rubio and Hegseth to another place was also discussed. However, officials clarified that both have not been taken anywhere else yet.

The alert level in America has also been increased amid increasing tension in the Middle East. A senior officer said that the army is constantly keeping an eye on possible threats. Under this, an alert has been issued to American embassies around the world and security has been tightened at many military bases in the country.

On Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry had ordered all American embassies to immediately conduct a security review. It said that the conflict in the Middle East could have an impact on other areas as well.

Security increased at which places?

This week, the security level at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey and MacDill Air Force Base in Florida has been increased to “Charlie”. This means that there is a possibility of attack or danger based on intelligence information. The ‘Delta’ level is applied when an attack is imminent or has already occurred.

The report also said that MacDill Air Force Base, where the US Central Command is headquartered, was locked down twice this week. The base’s visitor center was closed after a suspicious package was found Monday and the FBI is investigating. A ‘shelter-in-place’ order was issued for a few hours after another security incident on Wednesday.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell declined to comment on the drone incident. He said that due to security reasons it is not right to give information on the activities of the minister.
