Punjab government’s big step towards reducing maternal mortality rate
The Punjab government has taken a big step to strengthen the health care of pregnant women. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, pregnancy care has been brought closer to villages and cities through Aam Aadmi Clinics. Today, about 20,000 pregnant women are taking benefit from these clinics every month.

More than 10 thousand free ultrasounds in four months
According to Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, more than 10,000 women have been provided free ultrasound facility in the last four months. For this, the state government has added about 500 private diagnostic centres. These tests, which usually cost Rs 800 to Rs 2000, are now completely free, which has brought great relief to families.
Pregnancy test now close to home
Now all the necessary tests related to pregnancy are being done in common man clinics. These include blood test, sugar, thyroid, hemoglobin, HIV, hepatitis and baby’s heartbeat. If needed, free ultrasound can also be done with doctor’s prescription.
Special attention on high-risk pregnancy
Every month around 5,000 women are being identified as having high-risk pregnancies. Such women are sent to big hospitals in time so that the safety of mother and child can be ensured.
Efforts towards reducing maternal mortality rate
According to government data, not all pregnant women in Punjab were able to get complete check-up. To overcome this shortcoming, this new model has been started. Its goal is to reduce maternal mortality and promote safe delivery.

Common man clinics become the backbone of the health system
So far, 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics have been opened in Punjab, where about 70,000 patients are treated daily. Through these clinics, pregnant women are getting timely examination, advice and treatment.
Government’s goal: Better health care to every mother
Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that this initiative is a historic step for the health of mothers and newborns. The aim of the government is that no woman should be deprived of treatment due to distance, money or lack of information.
