Sivakarthikeyan’s next production may be Kannada remake
Chennai: Actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan is once again in the spotlight as fresh reports suggest that his upcoming production venture may be a remake of a popular Kannada film rather than an original script.
The project, which will be directed by Ammamuthu Surya, had earlier generated curiosity due to the lack of details surrounding its storyline. However, recent developments indicate that the film could be inspired by the Kannada black comedy Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare.
Reports hint at remake plans
According to industry sources, the film is likely to be an adaptation of Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare, which was directed by Nithin Krishnamurthy and received appreciation for its unconventional storytelling and dark humour.
The original Kannada film stood out for its unique narrative structure and was well received by audiences for blending comedy with tension in a confined setting.
While there has been no official confirmation from Sivakarthikeyan or the production team, the reports have sparked interest among fans and film observers.
A story built around chaos and humour
The plot of Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare revolves around a group of hostel students who find themselves in an unexpected and serious situation after their warden dies suddenly.
With no immediate plan, the students decide to handle the situation on their own, leading to a series of chaotic and tense events over the course of a single night.
The film is known for its fast-paced narrative, where humour and tension coexist, showcasing how panic and poor decision-making can escalate a situation.
Ensemble cast and notable cameos
The Kannada version featured a young ensemble cast, including Prajwal BP, Manjunath Nayaka, Rakesh Rajkumar, Srivatsa Shyam, Tejas Jayanna Urs, Shreyas Sharma, and Bharath Vasisht.
It also included cameo appearances by well-known personalities such as Ramya, Rishab Shetty, Pawan Kumar, Shine Shetty, and Diganth.
These appearances added an extra layer of appeal to the film and contributed to its popularity.
Possibility of cameo in Tamil version
If the remake reports are accurate, it is expected that Sivakarthikeyan may also make a cameo appearance in the Tamil version, similar to the role played by Rishab Shetty in the original.
A similar approach was seen in the Telugu adaptation titled Boys Hostel, where certain roles were recast while retaining the core storyline.
However, details regarding casting, screenplay changes, and the extent of adaptation remain unconfirmed.
Sivakarthikeyan’s expanding production slate
Sivakarthikeyan has been actively expanding his presence as a producer alongside his acting career.
He was last seen in Parasakthi, a period political drama directed by Sudha Kongara. The film featured actors like Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela, and Atharvaa Murali in key roles.
In addition, he is currently working on Seyon, directed by Sivakumar Murugesan and produced by Kamal Haasan.
He is also expected to collaborate with Venkat Prabhu for another upcoming project.
Conclusion
While the possibility of a remake has added a new dimension of interest to Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming production, the absence of official confirmation means the details remain speculative.
If the reports turn out to be accurate, the project could bring a successful Kannada story to a wider Tamil audience with a fresh interpretation. Until then, fans will be watching closely for any official announcements from the makers.
