IMD Alert: Heavy rain-storm in 19 states, 85 KM/H winds, know Delhi-UP weather update
Weather Update: Amidst the increasing heat, the weather has suddenly taken a turn and the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a new and worrying warning. Now there is a possibility of heavy rain, storm and hail in many states of the country up to 19 states. This weather can increase people’s problems for a few days starting from March 20. This effect will be visible in many areas from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir to Eastern India.
According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed can reach 70 to 85 kilometers per hour, which is quite fast. There is also a danger of lightning, thunder and hail at some places. Especially in Eastern India (like Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal), it has been advised to be cautious of lightning and thunder. This is the time for farmers to be very cautious, because strong wind and hail can cause damage to crops. The good thing is that due to this heavy rain the temperature can drop by 2 to 3 degrees, which will provide some relief from the heat.
What will happen in North-West India?
In this area, states like Delhi, UP, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir will be affected.
- There is every possibility of rain with strong winds once again in Delhi on March 20. Clouds will thunder and lightning may also occur. Wind speed will be 40-50 km/hour. Moderate to heavy rain may occur in many areas like Laxmi Nagar, Vinod Nagar, Anand Vihar, ITO, Rajghat, Uttam Nagar etc. Tomorrow the maximum temperature of Delhi is expected to be around 22 degrees and minimum 14 degrees Celsius. It will provide relief from the heat, but carry an umbrella or raincoat while going out.
- In Uttar Pradesh too, there is an alert of moderate to heavy rain in both eastern and western parts on March 20. There will be rain in many districts like Kanpur, Agra, Badaun, Etah, Bareilly, Muzaffarnagar, Mathura, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Saharanpur, Mainpuri. The maximum temperature in Lucknow can be 27 degrees and the minimum can be 17 degrees.
- There is a warning of rain with stormy winds (gusts up to 50-85 km/hr) in Uttarakhand from March 20 to 22. The impact will be visible in districts like Bageshwar, Nainital, Dehradun, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Tehri Garhwal. The maximum in Dehradun will be 14 degrees and the minimum will be 9 degrees.
- There is an alert of heavy rain and storm in Himachal Pradesh on March 20 and 21. There will be rain in districts like Shimla, Manali, Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, Chamba, Bilaspur, Kinnaur etc. In Manali, the maximum can go up to minus 2 degrees and the minimum can go up to minus 8 degrees, which means the cold will increase significantly.
- Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, East Rajasthan and Western UP may also receive moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms and isolated hailstorm on March 20-21.
Situation in Eastern and Central India
- Strong winds of 50-60 km/hour may occur in Bihar on March 20 with moderate to heavy rain. There is alert in districts like Katihar, Purnia, Araria, Kishanganj, Khagaria, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani. The maximum in Patna will be 32 degrees and the minimum will be 20 degrees.
- There is a strong possibility of thunderstorm (gusts up to 60-80 km/hr) in Jharkhand on March 20.
- There will be light-moderate rain, thunder-lightning and 30-50 km/hour winds in West Bengal and Sikkim from 20 to 23 March. There may be a strong storm in the Ganga plains.
- Chhattisgarh may also experience thunderstorms with winds of 50-70 km/hr on March 20.
- In Odisha and other eastern states also, light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms and lightning may last for 3-5 days.
Overall, this weather change will provide relief from the heat, but it is important to be careful from strong winds, lightning and hail.
