Assam Assembly Elections 2026: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Minister Pijush Hazarika filed their nominations, claimed victory
The process of assembly elections has intensified in Assam. State Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Himanta Biswa Sarma has filed his nomination from Jalukbari assembly constituency. Along with him, state government minister and BJP candidate from Jagiroad assembly constituency Pijush Hazarika also filed his nomination at the District Collector office in Morigaon.
With this nomination process, political activities in the state have reached their peak. Candidates of both the major parties, BJP and Congress, are claiming their respective victories.
Pijush Hazarika looked confident about victory
After filing nomination from Jagiroad, Minister Pijush Hazarika, while talking to the media, expressed full confidence in his victory. He said that this time he will win by a bigger margin than before.
“I hope that this time I will win with a big margin. Himanta Biswa Sarma will become the Chief Minister again. Our job is to provide good governance to the people.”- Pijush Hazarika
Referring to the work of his government, Hazarika said, “We have done a lot for the progress of Assam and will continue to do so. The BJP will work hard for the civilization and culture of Assam and is doing this work continuously. There will be no compromise in this.”
Opposition also filed nomination
On the other hand, election preparations are in full swing in the opposition camp also. Leader of Opposition in Assam Assembly Debabrata Saikia has filed his nomination as Congress candidate from Nazira seat. Saikia’s candidature is expected to make the contest on Nazira seat interesting. With the filing of nominations by top leaders of both the major parties, the picture of the electoral battle in Assam is becoming clearer.
