India has created history by winning the title of T20 World Cup 2026. The final match of this tournament was played on 8 March at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India won the final match against New Zealand by 96 runs. However, there were many turning points in the match, which kept the spectators excited.
In this match, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first. But this decision went in favor of India. Batting first, India scored 255 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs and gave a target as big as a mountain to New Zealand. New Zealand had a good start while chasing the target. But later the Kiwi players failed to stop the falling wickets. New Zealand could not even play 20 overs and were all out after scoring 159 runs in 19 overs.

Lockie Ferguson got to bowl only two overs during India’s innings. But both proved to be very expensive. Lockie Ferguson bowled India’s fourth over, in that over Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma scored 24 runs. Ferguson also bowled the 12th over but Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan thrashed him and scored 24 runs in that over also.
Shivam Dubey did wonders in 8 balls
After the 15th over, the team’s score was 203 runs for one wicket. It seemed as if the team could reach 280. But, three wickets fell in the 16th over, due to which the team’s run rate slowed down. However, Shivam Dubey scored 24 runs in the last over by hitting two sixes and three fours. In that innings, he scored 26 runs in just eight balls, taking the Indian team’s score to 255 runs for five wickets in 20 overs.

New Zealand’s opening batsmen failed
New Zealand’s opening pair scored 25 runs in the first two overs. However, Axar Patel took the wicket of Finn Allen in the third over. After this New Zealand lost two wickets in consecutive overs. Jasprit Bumrah took wickets at important times in this match, he took four wickets in his spell. During New Zealand’s innings, Indian bowlers prevented them from making big partnerships. Only Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Santner could make a partnership of 52 runs.
