New Delhi20 march. The premises of the country’s prestigious news agency United News of India (UNI), located at Rafi Marg in the national capital, was forcibly vacated without any prior notice by deployment of heavy personnel of Delhi Police and paramilitary forces on Friday night. This is the first time in the history of independent India’s media that such action has been taken against a media house.
It is noteworthy that the news agency has been operating from the premises located at 9, Rafi Marg for the last several decades. Today suddenly some government officials along with about 300 Delhi Police and paramilitary forces and officers and some lawyers entered the premises and started pressurizing the employees to immediately vacate the newsroom and go out of the premises. He said that this action is being taken on the orders of the court, but he could not show any written order.

He said that if the employees do not come out peacefully, they will have to use force. On the request of the employees to give them some time and wait for the arrival of the company management and to show them the notice, they forcibly dragged and pushed some employees, including women employees, from their seats and took them out of the newsroom. During this time he was also abused.

The police personnel occupied the gate of the complex and did not allow the journalists and management officials who had gone out in connection with the news to enter inside. They could not even take their personal belongings. There are various discussions as to why the employees were thrown out of the premises in this manner without any prior notice and in the absence of senior management of the news agency.
