Show of strength before nomination: Himanta Biswa Sarma’s grand road show, crowd gathered even in rain

Guwahati. Ahead of the assembly elections, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made a strong show of strength before filing nomination on Friday. The grand road show taken out from Kamrup metro area to the assembly office completely heated up the political atmosphere.

After the road show, Sarma will file his nomination papers from Jalukbari assembly constituency. This is being seen as a demonstration of his popularity and political power.

Even the rain could not stop the enthusiasm of the supporters.
Despite the rain, thousands of supporters gathered on the streets. People had started gathering at the Veterinary College grounds of Khanapara since morning.
Women and youth participated with full enthusiasm, while supporters dancing to the tunes of Bihu turned the atmosphere into a festive one.

Got support from family too-
During this, his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma expressed her gratitude to the supporters calling it a happy occasion.

Jalukbari’s continued strong hold-
Himanta Biswa Sarma has been representing Jalukbari seat continuously since 2001.
After winning thrice from Congress, he joined BJP in 2015 and even after this he continued his winning streak on this seat.

He wrote on social media, “With the blessings of the people of Jalukbari, I am going to file nomination, your grace is my strength.”
Seeing the crowd that gathered in the rain, he described it as a symbol of public love.

BJP released the list of candidates-
It is noteworthy that Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday released the first list of candidates for 88 out of 89 seats in Assam, in which Sarma’s name tops the list from Jalukbari seat.

Date of voting and results-
Voting will be held in Assam on April 9, while the election results will be declared on May 4.

This huge road show clearly indicates that BJP has used all its strength to retain its power in the state.
