Huge crowd of devotees at Vaishno Devi on Chaitra Navratri, despite bad weather, 31,000 devotees reached for darshan.
Jammu,. On Thursday, the first day of Navratri, more than 31,000 devotees braved the bad weather to reach the Mata Vaishno Devi temple located on the Trikuta hills in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir and have darshan of the Mother Goddess. Officials gave this information on Friday.
“Around 31,690 pilgrims visited the temple and offered prayers till 10 pm on the first day of Navratri (Thursday),” a senior official of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board said. Navratri began on March 19 and will end on 27, with officials expecting over 30,000 devotees to visit the temple daily.
Officials said more than 15,000 pilgrims registered for the yatra on Friday while hundreds of people flocked to the temple since morning for darshan. Despite heavy rain on Thursday, a large number of devotees, chanting ‘Jai Mata Di’, walked on the winding road to the Mata Vaishno Devi temple situated on the Trikuta hills to have darshan and seek the blessings of the goddess.
He said that the Board has implemented a comprehensive, multi-layered security arrangement involving Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army personnel, as well as 24×7 CCTV surveillance through an integrated command and control centre.
