The last season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was a blast. A record 1294 sixes were hit in 73 matches that season. Earlier, the record of most sixes in any season was 1260, which was hit in IPL 2024. 1124 sixes were hit in IPL 2023. Whereas in the last season the ball went out of the boundary line through air 1062 times. That means there has been a continuous increase in sixes in the last three seasons.
This time the number of sixes is likely to cross 1300. It remains to be seen whether IPL 2026 can touch this magical figure or not. Before that, let’s take a look at the teams that have hit the most sixes in an IPL season.

SRH created a stir in IPL 2024
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) holds the record for hitting most sixes in an IPL season. SRH made this record in IPL 2024. The team captained by Pat Cummins had hit 178 sixes in 16 innings that season. For this, SRH batsmen faced 1835 balls. SRH reached the final that season, where it lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.
After SRH, Punjab Kings (PBKS) are at second place, which had hit 173 sixes last season. PBKS batsmen had a chance to break SRH’s record but they missed it. It is also worth noting that PBKS team could not break SRH’s record even after playing 1899 balls. Royal Challengers Bangalore are at third place with 165 sixes. She had done this wonders last season and was also successful in winning the trophy.

CSK’s ‘sixing’ comeback
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a comeback in IPL 2018 and hit 145 sixes. Then this was the record of most sixes in any IPL season. This remained unbroken for 5 seasons, which was broken by SRH in the 2024 season. Since then, this record of CSK has been surpassed by 4 teams.
