IPL 2026: KKR gets double blow, after Harshit Rana, Akash Deep also out
Delhi: Before the start of IPL 2026, the troubles of Kolkata Knight Riders are increasing. Yesterday, on March 20, it was told by the franchise that Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the 19th season of IPL due to being unfit. Now another fast bowler has left KKR before the start of the season. The bowler we are talking about is Akash Deep.
Akash Deep out of IPL 2026
Cricbuzz has confirmed Akash Deep’s exclusion from IPL 2026. A senior KKR official has told Cricbuzz that unfortunately, Akash Deep is out for the entire season. The franchise had included the right-arm bowler in its team by purchasing him for Rs 1 crore in the mini auction held for IPL 2026 last year.
29-year-old Akash Deep is currently completing his rehab at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. For this reason he did not join the training camp of KKR. However, the nature of his injury has not been confirmed. It is believed that the CoE managers have given information to the franchise about the fitness of Akash Deep.
Akash Deep has a long association with injuries
Akash Deep has often been a victim of injuries. Due to this, he has missed many matches in IPL and international level. In four seasons since his IPL debut in 2022, Akash Deep has played only 14 matches and taken 10 wickets. He was a part of LSG team in the last season of IPL. The franchise had bought him for a hefty sum of Rs 8 crore. During the season, Akash Deep got to play only 6 matches, in which he took only 3 wickets. This was the reason why the franchise had shown the way out to Akash Deep after just one season.
