‘Dhurandhar 2’ became a hit with political twist and controversy! What is the secret of the film’s success?
Bollywood’s famous film ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has come into limelight with its release. While on one hand the audience seems excited about the film, on the other hand the debate regarding its story and political context has also intensified. Interestingly, at the time of the release of the first part of the film, it was known that its next part might be surrounded by controversies.
In ‘Dhurandhar 2’ the impact of politics has been shown more openly than in the first part. In the film, the direction of the story also seems to change with the changing power of the country. An Indian spy gets freedom to work more freely during a mission in Pakistan, which becomes possible after the arrival of the new government. In the film, major decisions like swearing in of the Prime Minister and demonetisation have also been made a part of the story.
Controversy over characters
The biggest controversy in the film is about a character who is said to be inspired by a famous leader of Uttar Pradesh. Although the name is not taken directly in the film, it does not take long for the audience to understand to whom the reference is made. Especially the way the murder of that character has been added to the story, it has further intensified the debate.
A touch of politics in the story
The film depicts the network of terrorism, drugs and illegal weapons, whose links are connected within and outside the country. At one point in the story, all of them are also linked to a notorious gangster. The film tries to show that some decisions of the government have played an important role in dealing with these problems. This is the reason why some people are calling it ‘propaganda’, while others consider it just a part of a story.
Does success come from controversy?
It is often believed that controversies help in increasing the earnings of any film, but this is not completely true. There have been many such films in the past too, in which political issues were shown, but they could not do much at the box office. This makes it clear that a film does not become a hit just by creating controversy.
Audience’s choice became real power
The biggest reason for the success of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is its story and the curiosity related to the first part. The audience wanted to know what would happen next, and this curiosity drew them to the theatres. There is definitely politics in the film, but it is only a part of the whole story.
The first part of the film focuses on the journey of the main character, while the second part deals more with political events. However, throughout the film the main focus of the story remains on the character’s journey. Politics has been used as a supporting element, and not the entire story is based on it.
