Defense Minister said: Strong army and prepared citizens are necessary in modern war!
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday virtually addressed the foundation day and diamond jubilee celebrations of Sainik School located in Ghorakhal, Uttarakhand. He said that today the nature of conflicts has completely changed. Any nation can be weakened through economic, cyber, space and information warfare, so every citizen needs to be alert and prepared at all times.
Rajnath Singh said, “By being prepared, I do not mean that you should be prepared only for any war, but by being prepared, I mean that you should be prepared for every situation that comes your way. This preparation is of mental toughness, so that you maintain composure even in difficult situations. This preparation is of intellectual clarity, so that you can differentiate between right and wrong.”
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is busy equipping the defense forces with modern weapons and technologies. He also called upon the youth to develop mental strength and intellectual clarity through discipline and determination, so that they can face every challenge.
Referring to the concept of VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous), he urged the students to develop their own version of VUCA, which includes foresight, understanding, courage and adaptability, to effectively meet modern challenges.
Describing the steps taken by the government to impart the values necessary for building the country to as many youth as possible, Rajnath Singh said that recently a decision has been taken to build 100 new Sainik Schools across the country in the public-private partnership model.
He further said, “Another initiative includes increasing the number of vacant seats in the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Earlier the capacity for admission in NCC was 17 lakh cadets. This has now been increased to 20 lakh.”
The Defense Minister described the decision of admission of girls in military schools as historic and revolutionary. He said that this is strengthening the ‘women power’ of the country. These girls will become examples of ‘women power’ in the times to come and will touch new heights in different sectors.
Congratulating the students, faculty, alumni and their families of Ghorakhal Sainik School on completion of 60 years of dedicated service to the nation, Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that the students will maintain the highest standards of discipline and dedication, making their families, the institution and the country proud.
