‘Attack on Mumbai-Delhi’, former High Commissioner of Pakistan threatens India
New Delhi: There is no sign of stopping the rhetoric from Pakistan against India. Meanwhile, an inflammatory statement of former Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit has come to light, in which he has talked about targeting major cities of India.
This statement has come at a time when tension in West Asia is at its peak and it has been several weeks since the ongoing conflict between America, Israel and Iran. This statement given in this sensitive environment has raised new concerns regarding regional security.
Controversy increased due to provocative statement
Abdul Basit, referring to a hypothetical situation, said, "Imagine if America attacks Pakistan then Pakistan should drop bombs on cities like India’s capital Delhi and Mumbai." His statement is being considered quite provocative.
He also said that even if Pakistan could not reach its direct target, it should not give up its intention of targeting Indian cities. This statement is raising questions on Pakistan’s mentality towards India.
Said these things in TV debate
During a TV discussion with ABN News, Basit said, "Suppose, the situation in Iran gets worse. Israel comes and sits in our neighbourhood. Such a situation arises where America also looks at our nuclear program with a bad eye, or tries to destroy our nuclear capability, which is impossible."
he adds, "But, I am talking about the worst situation, which is impossible, because Pakistan has enough capacity to defend itself, but, if such a situation arises that if America attacks Pakistan… America is not in our nuclear range, we cannot even reach their bases in the regional areas or we cannot even attack Israel, then what will be the way for us."
to attack India
Continuing his statement, Basit said, "We have just seen, nothing else to do. Even if our range does not reach America and someone casts an evil eye on us, we will have to attack India without thinking. Tax has to be paid on Mumbai, tax has to be paid on New Delhi. We don’t have to leave. Whatever happens later remains to be seen. We will have no other option if America attacks us, which is impossible."
He finally said, "So the world should know that if someone casts a blind eye on us, we will not step back without giving a reply. Concluding his speech, he said that although India would not want this nor do we want such a situation. We would like them not to look at us with dirty eyes."
