India is the leader of BRICS, Modi ji should stop US-Israel war, appeals to Iran’s President

New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pejeshkian over telephone on Saturday. In this conversation, PM Modi while wishing Eid and Navroz wished for peace, stability and prosperity in West Asia. They strongly condemned the attacks on critical infrastructure in the region and appealed to ensure the security of sea lanes and freedom of navigation, including the Strait of Hormuz.

According to details from the Iranian side, President Pejeshkian proposed creating a regional security framework involving West Asian countries to establish peace through regional cooperation without foreign interference. He also urged India, as the chair of BRICS, to play an independent role in stopping US-Israeli aggression against Iran. This was the second telephone conversation between the two leaders after the conflict began.

Condemn attacks on regional infrastructure

Prime Minister Modi condemned the attacks on critical infrastructure in the region, which threaten regional stability and disrupt global supply chains. He reiterated the importance of protecting freedom of navigation and ensuring that shipping lanes remain open and safe. The Prime Minister also appreciated Iran’s continued support for the security of Indian citizens in Iran.

Best wishes for Eid-Navroz and appeal for peace

Prime Minister Modi wished the President of Iran on Eid and Nowruz. He wrote in the post on We expressed hope that the festive season brings peace, stability and prosperity to West Asia.

Khamenei’s opposition to nuclear weapons

According to the details, President Pejeshkian rejected the US claim that the US had launched a military attack against Iran to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons. Pejeshkian also stressed that the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had strongly opposed nuclear weapons and issued both administrative and religious directives prohibiting any steps toward their development, the statement said.

Iran insists on India’s role in BRICS

Iran appealed to India, as the current chair of BRICS, to use its independent role to stop US-Israeli hostility. According to the details, he also stressed that an immediate cessation of aggression by the US and Israel is necessary to end war and conflict in the region.

Regional Security Framework Proposal

The President proposed to establish a regional security framework consisting of the countries of West Asia, the purpose of which is to ensure peace and stability through regional cooperation without foreign interference. Iran also reiterated its readiness to dialogue with world leaders outside the United Nations.

Referring to the previous talks, on March 12, President Pejeshkian had informed Prime Minister Modi about the current situation in Iran. The Prime Minister expressed deep concern over the emerging security situation in the region and reiterated India’s stand that all issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
