Chaitra Navratri 2026: Eat tadka of taste during fast, make tasty “curd potatoes” at home

The holy festival of Chaitra Navratri is going on, and along with it, many people are also fasting for nine days. It is absolutely natural to feel like eating something new and tasty during the fast. And “Dahi wale Aloo” is really a great option. Its sour taste tastes great during fasting. So let’s learn to make it in a quick and easy way.

Material

  • Boiled potatoes – 3–4 (medium size, cut into pieces)
  • Curd – 1 cup (well beaten)
  • Ghee – 1-2 spoons
  • Cumin – 1 tsp
  • Green chilli – 1-2 (finely chopped)
  • Rock salt – as per taste
  • Black pepper powder – ½ tsp
  • Red chilli powder (fast) – ½ tsp
  • Coriander leaves – to garnish

Method

  • 1-Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. When the cumin seeds start crackling, add green chillies and fry them lightly.
  • 2-Now add boiled potatoes to it and let it become light golden for 2-3 minutes.
  • 3- Lower the gas and add whipped curd (keep in mind that while adding the curd, the gas should be on low so that it does not curdle).
  • 4- Immediately stir well and add rock salt, black pepper and red chilli. Cook for a minute until the gravy becomes slightly thick. Add coriander leaves on top and serve hot.
