Roar 2026: CSK induct Suresh Raina and Matthew Hayden into first Hall of Fame

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday added a special chapter to their history by inducting Suresh Raina and Matthew Hayden into the franchise’s first-ever Hall of Fame.

The announcement took place during the fan event Roar 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, where a large crowd gathered to be part of the moment.

Roar 2026 is a fan celebration event organized by the Chennai Super Kings. It brings together fans, current players and former cricketers in one place.

Suresh Raina and Mathew Hayden honored for their impact

The Hall of Fame induction is a tribute to two of CSK’s most important players. Matthew Hayden played for the franchise from 2008 to 2010 and was part of the 2010 IPL winning team. He also won the Orange Cap in 2009 after scoring 572 runs.

Overall, he scored 1117 runs for CSK with eight half centuries. Known for his aggressive style, he had a strike rate of 137.52 and gave strong starts at the top of the order.

Suresh Raina is often seen as one of the greatest players to ever represent CSK. Fondly called “Chinna Thala” and also known as Mr IPL, he was the backbone of the team for many years.

Raina played from 2008 to 2021 and was part of four title winning teams in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021. He scored 5529 runs with two centuries and 38 half centuries which shows his consistency and value to the side.

A celebration of legacy

The event also saw many former CSK players in attendance including Muttiah Muralitharan, Ambati Rayudu, Lakshmipathy Balaji, S Badrinath and Michael Hussey. Their presence made the occasion more special as fans relived old memories.

CSK has built a strong legacy over the years with five IPL titles and several finals appearances. MS Dhoni still remains a key figure in the team, though this could be one of his final seasons.

With younger players stepping in, the team may soon look to transition while still honoring the players who built its success.
