Big decision regarding LPG, now only 10 kg gas will be available in 14.2 kg cylinder! Big update on price also
LPG Crisis: In the coming time, a big change may be seen regarding domestic LPG cylinders. Preparations are being made to supply about 10 kg of gas in a 14.2 kg cylinder. The main reason for this is the interruption in gas supply due to the war related to Iran and the rapidly decreasing LPG stock in the country.
According to reports, oil marketing companies want to deliver limited gas to as many consumers as possible through this step. Officials associated with the industry believe that in the current situation this may be a necessary measure.
New stickers will be put on cylinders
If this scheme is implemented, new stickers will be placed on the cylinders, which will have clear information about the reduced quantity of gas. Besides, it is being said that consumers will be given relief in the same proportion in price. However, this will require technical changes in bottling plants and regulatory approvals.
The supply situation is already under pressure. New consignment of LPG is not arriving from Gulf countries. Recently, only two ships were able to cross the Strait of Hormuz carrying about 92,700 tonnes of gas, which is equal to the country’s consumption for just one day. Additionally, several Indian LPG tankers are stranded in the Persian Gulf, further adding to the uncertainty.
Regular supply being given to consumers
According to the Petroleum Ministry, at present regular supply is being given to consumers, but emphasis is being laid on gas conservation. The country consumes about 93,500 tonnes of LPG daily, of which about 86% goes for domestic use.

It is noteworthy that India imports about 60% of its LPG requirement and a major part of it comes from Gulf countries. In such a situation, regional tension and supply disruptions are directly impacting the country’s energy system.
