Dasun Shanaka got huge benefit from kicking off PSL, huge earning from IPL 2026

Delhi: Before the start of IPL 2026, a strong player has entered the camp of Rajasthan Royals. The player we are talking about is Dasun Shanaka. The franchise has made Shanaka a part of its squad as a replacement for England’s young all-rounder Sam Curran. This has been officially confirmed by RR.

Rajasthan Royals signed Shanaka for 2 crores

Rajasthan team has signed Sri Lankan team’s limited overs captain Shanaka for Rs 2 crore. This amount shows that Shanaka’s decision of not playing in PSL 2026 has proved to be completely right.

Actually, Shanaka was getting 75 lakh Pakistani rupees (about 25 lakh in Indian currency) from Lahore Qalandars team for playing in PSL 2026. When Shanaka got the IPL offer, he left the Pakistani league.

Let us tell you that due to groin injury, Karan will not be able to participate in the 19th season of IPL. Team director Kumar Sangakkara has expressed grief over this matter. He said in the official press release of RR,

‘It is disappointing to lose a player like Sam so close to the start of the season. Sam was a very useful player for the team with both bat and ball. However, we are glad that we have found an ideal replacement in Dasun Shanaka, who is an excellent finisher and a good all-rounder.

Dasun Shanaka’s T20 career statistics

34-year-old Shanaka was last seen in IPL in 2023. That season he represented Gujarat Titans and scored only 26 runs in 3 matches. Even though the fans of Rajasthan team will not be very happy after seeing these figures, but Shanaka’s figures in T20 format are really worth seeing.

Shanaka has played 283 matches in his T20 career, in which he has scored 5064 runs at an average of 25.83. This includes 3 centuries and 19 half-centuries. Whereas in bowling, Shanaka has taken 111 wickets.
